“Time-lapse photography is a cinematography technique whereby each film frame is captured at a rate much slower than it will be played back. When replayed at normal speed, time appears to be moving faster and thus lapsing. Time-lapse photography can be considered to be the opposite of high speed photography.
Processes that would normally appear subtle to the human eye, such as motion in the sky, become very pronounced. Time-lapse is the extreme version of the cinematography technique of undercranking, and can be considered a borderline form of stop motion animation.”

Lightbox JS is a simple, unobtrusive script used to overlay images on the current page. It’s a snap to setup and works on all modern browsers. Places images above your current page, not within. This frees you from the constraints of the layout, particularly column widths.

Our very first glimpse of The Simpsons, these are short clips which aired on the Tracey Ullman Show 1987-1989, before and after ad breaks.

“When you are fixating well, after a few cycles you will actually see a rotating green spot! If your gaze is really steady, the magenta patches will disappear, leaving only a rotating green spot!”

Yugo Nakamura, after some time in ostensible hibernation, appeared at the OFFF2005 Festival of Digital Art and Electronic Music in Barcelona this March, in a formidable lineup with Neville Brody, Joshua Davis, Tomato, Tronic and Soda, among others. Nakamura introduced some of his latest developments and experiments in “various forms of interactive systems in digital and networked environments.” Check yugop.com to have your mind equilaterally blown.

“As an animated gif, the animation would be approximately 70K in size. As a flick animation we can save each frame in .jpg format and the combined file size of the twelve frames is only 36K (and it is more fun than an animated gif).”

The Annual D&AD Award winners are online. I thought this TV commercial campaign for TBS was particularly well thought out. Some nice ads from Aardman Animations, interactive TV from Modus and Spooks, while one of only four Black Pencils (Gold Award) went to Wieden + Kennedy with their Honda TV and cinema commercials. I also enjoyed the fun and fluid website design of PDK from Max Weber. Take a look around.

One more from Lebonze and I’ll stop. Neat stop motion clips, in light Flash files. Not *so* original but very well done.
